Treatment for Tics & Tourettes

Significantly reduce your tics in as little as 8 sessions!

TIC DISORDERS- Put simply, Tic Disorders are characterized as frequent involuntary motor or vocal tics, such as head jerking or throat clearing. When an individual has both motor and vocal tics lasting 1 year or longer, they may receive a diagnosis of Tourette Syndrome. It was long thought that medications were the only treatment for tics. After various treatment studies, research now shows us that CBIT-Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics can be very effective at significantly reducing tics. CBIT is now the front line recommendation for tics from the American Academy of Neurology.

TREATMENT for TICS- I am a certified CBIT provider, and treat children, adolescents and adults. I am one of roughly 200 trained CBIT therapists in the world.

CBIT is a non-drug treatment consisting of three important components:
(a) training the patient to be more aware of tics,
(b) training patients to do competing behavior when they feel the urge to tic, and
(c) making changes to day to day activities in ways that can be helpful in reducing tics.It is important to note that many of these strategies are already commonly used in the management of TS symptoms. Upon hearing a description of CBIT, many adults with TS report that they have come up with similar strategies to manage their tics. CBIT takes the best of these ideas and blends them with strategies that allow people to quickly learn the techniques.
